Workshop, June 3: Strategies in Simultaneous Interpretation

Cyril  Flerov  will be presenting "Strategies in Simultaneous Interpretation" on Saturday, June 3 from 1:00-4:00 PM featuring:

- Introduction to main strategies and their use for beginners

- Tools for a periodic inventory of SI strategies to achieve better automation for experienced interpreters

- Difference in use of strategies in various type of SI (e.g. court vs conference setting)

- Generic strategies and more specific techniques (e.g. saucissonnage vs segmentation vs literal translation)

- Types of probability prediction in SI

The lecture is followed by an exercise in selecting appropriate strategies depending in given initial conditions.

ATA Continuing Education Credit: ATA-certified members will earn 3 Continuing Education points.

CIMCE credits: L4211, 3hours.
