This three-hour workshop will go over the basics of subtitling: What are subtitles, how does one use them and what to look out for; the general process of getting involved in the industry and finding clients; and tips to be a good subtitler and best practices. Then, we will get our hands dirty and work together to create your own subtitling masterpiece! Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops/tablets. Please make sure your laptop/tablet is fully charged since there is a limited amount of power outlets


Gabriel Dubois is an internationally renowned subtitler and linguist. He has subtitled for television, cinema and documentaries for various international and domestic clients for over 10 years now. He is now the owner of GMD Linguistics, LLC.


ATA Continuing Education Credit: ATA-certified members will earn three Continuing Education points.

CIMCE credits: Certified court interpreters will earn three CIMCE credits (valid through October 25, 2018). 

Early payment is advised in order to secure participation and help reach the workshop minimum participation. Unfortunately, workshops may occasionally have to be cancelled or rescheduled if the confirmed participation in advance is very low. NCTA will not be responsible for any consequential losses to participants arising from this.

Cancellation policy: Refunds are issued only if notice of cancellation is received one week prior to the applicable workshop date. A cancellation fee of $10 is charged for all cancellations.
