2:00 p.m.: Searching the Web: Tips from a Librarian -- By Richard Le
Learn how to search the web with Google commands and operators. The presenter will show you how to formulate your search terms and queries, develop effective search techniques, and filter your results by news source, site domain, country code and language. Attendees will learn advanced search techniques and simple methods to accessing to business information, government documents, scholarly journals and databases on the web. This a fun, practical and fast-pace course for everyone.
About the presenter
Richard Le is a reference librarian. He teaches information literacy, electronic resources and basic computer classes. Richard received his MLIS degree from San Jose State University in 2008 and has worked for several Bay Area library systems (e.g., San Jose Public, San Rafael Public and San Mateo County Libraries). He currently develops training materials for library staff, serves on numerous technology-related committees and has frequently presented at professional conferences.
