The next ATA certification exam in Northern California will be held on October 3 in San Francisco. To help you prepare for success on exam day, NCTA is offering this ATA Exam-Prep Workshop.

This workshop is a one-hour general overview of the examination followed by a 15-minute Q&A.

• To acquaint attendees with the ATA certification process and its most recent changes.
• To explain the mechanics of the examination, the evaluation, and the concepts and details of the grading process.
• To introduce those "tricks of the trade" that may improve your chances of passing the exam.
• To give participants an opportunity to ask questions about the certification program and the exam.

This workshop is language-neutral and should be of value to anyone who is interested in learning more about the exam, regardless of your particular language combinations.

Note that this will be followed by a workshop specifically aimed at preparing for the SP<>EN language combination. Click here if you are interested in attending this workshop.

Sean Dodd is an ATA-certified translator (Spanish>English) who serves on NCTA’s Board of Directors. He is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute’s School of Russian and also holds a BA in Spanish, a Certificate in Legal Interpretation (Spanish), and a Diploma in Fluency-Level Spanish (DELE Superior). After more than a decade of translation and interpreting experience, Sean earned ATA certification in 2012 at his first exam sitting. This is his second year presenting this workshop.
