your work looks like is just as important as the content. Many
translators are so focused on the words that they often do not pay much
attention to how they submit their work. Even the best translation will
be discredited if the formatting is sloppy, arrives late, or in a
format that causes a project manager hours of rework. This presentation
will cover basic formatting techniques, issues that one may face with
various applications, OCR and CAT tool hazards to formatting, as well as
how to communicate questions and other aspects of your work
effectively. Also provided are guidelines on proofing and finalizing
Presenter: Dagmar Dolatschko
Dagmar Dolatschko is the founder
and president of Peritus Language Services. A native of Germany, she is
certified as a translator by the Bavarian Ministry for Education and
Culture. She has a graduate degree from the European language institute
"Sprachen- und Dolmetscher-Institut", Munich, Germany, and an MBA
from Notre Dame de Namur University, CA.
Prior to starting Peritus, she held positions in import, export, and worldwide
marketing. She has served as president and on the boards of international
business associations and has shared her expertise as a featured speaker at
numerous international trade and translation related seminars. Her unique
skills combine a hands-on knowledge of translation with practical experience in
global trade and business development.
