Join us for our quarterly general meeting!

When: Saturday, February 1, 2014, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. New Member Orientation from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Golden Gate University, 536 Mission Street, Room 5207, San Francisco, CA 94105

Transportation and Parking: Muni rail lines J, K, L, M, N, S or F; MUNI street cars and buses 2, 5, 6, 9, 12, 14, 21, 31, 38, 41, or 71. BART: Montgomery station.
Door prizes! All attendees will be eligible to enter the raffles.

12:30 p.m.: Orientation for New Members
New members and anyone who wants to know more about NCTA are invited to join the New Member Orientation.
1:00 p.m.: Networking
Come meet and network with fellow translators and learn more about the association.
1:30 p.m.: NCTA Business

2:00 p.m.: Tools, e-Resources and Search Techniques for Translators

Research is an integral part of a translator’s work. To be successful, one needs skill, experience and specialized tools. Libraries offer many invaluable resources for translators. They provide reliable information, research advice and professional help. Richard will discuss a handful of databases, e-resources and research guides that are pertinent to translators. He also will provide useful tips, search strategies and techniques on how to access industry news, trade magazines and journal articles. Join us and discover the powerful research tools and services.

Presenter: Richard Le

Richard Le is a reference librarian. He teaches information literacy, electronic resources and basic computer classes. Richard received his MLIS degree from San Jose State University in 2008 and has worked for several Bay Area library systems (e.g., San Jose Public, San Rafael Public and San Mateo County Libraries). He currently develops training materials for library staff, serves on numerous technology-related committees and has frequently presented at professional conferences.

3:15 p.m.: Networking
Refreshments will be served at the end of the meeting, and there will be an opportunity for networking.
Note: For those who are ATA certified, you will receive 1 CE point for attending the meeting.
