SDL Trados Studio 2009 Workshop for Upgraders

During this 3-hour workshop you will learn how to migrate to use the new SDL Trados Studio 2009. This workshop is aimed at those who have used Trados previously and already know the basic features of the earlier versions. The workshop will give you a chance to get some hands-on experience with the new version and teach you most of the commonly used advanced features of SDL Trados Studio.

OBJECTIVES
To discover:
• how Trados Studio 2009 differs from earlier versions of Trados.
• how to migrate translation memories and termbases into the new SDL Trados Studio.
• how the new features work.
• where the old familiar features can be found in this totally new interface.

…in other words: To make your upgrade to Trados Studio 2009 as easy and efficient as possible!

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
• Trados users who have been thinking about upgrading to Trados Studio 2009.
• Trados users who already own Trados Studio 2009 but want to quickly learn how to migrate to Studio 2009 and how to take full advantage of the new features it offers.
Note that this workshop is meant for those who have previous Trados experience. If you don’t have any experience with earlier versions of Trados, you should take our Trados Studio 2009 Workshop for Beginners instead.

WHAT  DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE WORKSHOP?
• The workshop will include some optional hands-on exercises, so participants might find it useful to bring their own laptop computer with Trados Studio already installed. Trados Studio trial version is sufficient for the workshop, and will be provided to participants, if needed. Note that NCTA will NOT provide computers.

INSTRUCTOR
Tuomas Kostiainen is an SDL-approved Trados Trainer and has several years of experience in using Trados as a freelance English to Finnish translator and Trados trainer. He has also given several previous NCTA Trados workshops.

NOTE: This workshop does NOT cover earlier versions of Trados. Because the new Trados Studio 2009 is very different, this workshop will not help you to use earlier versions. If you are interested in workshops or training for the earlier versions (Trados 2007 or older), please contact the trainer. If there’s enough interest a workshop could be organized.

ATA CE Credit: ATA-certified members will earn up to 3 Continuing Education Points.

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED!
Space is limited.
